Hohhot Dairy Manure-to-Bedding Project
Membrane composting of dairy manure with the treated solids returning to the farm as hygienic bedding — a circular system documented in project photography from the site.

Manure to bedding and fertilizer
The challenge
A large dairy operation produces manure continuously and buys bedding continuously. Treating the two flows as one system turns a disposal cost into an on-farm material loop.
The system
Manure is collected, fermented under membrane cover with controlled aeration, and the stabilised solids fraction is prepared for return as cubicle bedding, with remaining output going to fertilizer use.
The outcome
The project demonstrates the manure-to-bedding loop at working scale: waste volume leaves the farm as product or returns as bedding, and the treatment area stays contained and managed.
What this case means for your project
For dairy operators evaluating their own project: this case is a cow manure composting system with a second output decision built in. The bedding loop changes the economics of the manure line, because part of the treated output displaces a purchased input. When scoping a similar project, confirm early whether the bedding return is part of the design — it affects the curing and preparation stages downstream of fermentation.
